How did Lord Shiva give his darshan to Guru Drona at this place and along with him, how the drops of water fall naturally on the self-styled Shivling.
With the grace of Mahadev, from time immemorial, drops of milk used to fall on the self-styled Shivalinga here before Kali Yuga, but after that, when the milk started being misused, this milk got absorbed into the water.
And at present, the drops of water keep on pouring water on top of Tapkeshwar Mahadev, this is the reason why this place was named Tapkeshwar Mahadev.
This has been the penance of Guru Drona, sitting near this Shivling, Guru Dronacharya used to do severe penance to please Bhagwan Shiva, Dehradun is also called Drona city by the name of Guru Dronacharya.
